Local 32 provides members opportunities for professional growth and development in partnership with the Illinois Laborers’ and Contractors Joint Apprenticeship and Training Program. We offer a variety of training opportunities for apprentices and journeymen designed to build and enhance skills and educate on the construction craft. Our training program is robust, diverse and focused on teaching members the proper techniques necessary to be skilled, productive and safe.
The Illinois Laborers’ and Contractors Joint Apprenticeship and Training Program offers a variety of courses ranging from basic core competency classes to hands-on, field-based training. The courses provided include classes in the following areas:

Classes are held in town at Local 32’s request or one of the four training facilities throughout the state.

Requirements
Local 32 wants you! If you are interested in developing skills in the construction trade, working on major projects in our community and providing a secure future for yourself and your family, Local 32 invites you to apply for apprenticeship!
We accept apprenticeship applications at online on the first Tuesday of every month from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Steps to completing the apprenticeship application:
- Submit application online on the first Tuesday of the month between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
- You will not be required to show any documentation during the application process.
- You will receive a list of items you must send to the training school when you apply.
- Upon receipt of the required documentation, the training school will send you a letter stating when and where the written test will be.
- Once you have completed the written test, you will receive notification of the date and location of your oral interview. The written test costs $20.
- After completing the oral interview, you will be put on a waiting list and ranked according to how well you performed. You are welcome to re-take the written and oral interview to increase your score for a fee of $20 each time.

Qualifications
- Must be a High School Graduate or have a G.E.D.
- Must be 18 at the time of application.
- A reading, understanding, writing, & communicating ability as would enable the applicant to perform the tasks of the construction craft laborer in a safe manner and comprehend the subject matter taught in English only, in related instruction.
- Must be physically able to perform the work of the trade.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Submit to written aptitude test, and personal interview administered by program staff. These will be scheduled after our office receives all applications. ALL APPLICANTS WILL BE NOTIFIED BY U.S. MAIL
- Drug testing shall be required at time of enrollment.
- $20.00 NON-REFUNDABLE administrative fee is required at the time of orientation/aptitude testing.
